5th Ward Alderman

Elected April 4th, 2023, Desmon Yancy is the alderman of the 5th ward of the city of Chicago. As a long-time South Side resident and an experienced community organizer, Ald. Yancy prides himself on his ability to convene various groups and ward residents around issues that are important to everyone. He knows that the 5th Ward is rich in community and wants to ensure that each neighborhood in the wards receives the services and resources they need to be successful. He is committed to increasing economic growth throughout the ward and making sure we have safe, vibrant communities that residents can be proud of. He is a father of one, and an avid photographer.
